Description / Dutch Bulb Garden in a Bag
Plant these Dutch Bulb Garden varieties before the first frost in late fall, and in spring they bloom in a multicolored mix with complementary colors, bloom times, and heights. This Do-It-For-Me-Collection contains 75 bulbs and 3 varieties: red tulips, yellow daffodils, and species iris. Each variety is individually bagged and labeled, giving you ultimate control.
Often grown as annuals, these bulbs can be grouped in flower beds and borders, mixed in containers, or planted in sweeping drifts. Grown Zone appropriately in optimal conditions, these bulbs may naturalize, multiplying and returning for years.
Plant these bulbs 4 to 8 inches apart and 4 to 8 inches deep. Site bulbs in a sunny to partially shady spot. Some light shade may extend their bloom time by keeping them cool. These bulbs are not picky about the soil type as long as it's well-draining. Soggy soils will cause bulbs to rot. When growth begins, feed bulbs with a well-balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food. Remove the flowers as soon as they fade but allow the leaves to yellow and wither before removing. Leaves continue to absorb nourishment that feeds the bulb, benefiting future growth and blooming. In USDA Zones 8-10, refrigerate the bulbs for no less than eight weeks.
