This Daphne stays in bloom for three whole seasons. Even during the winter, the leaves remain a striking shade of deep emerald green. Most of the blooms have at least four petals each, in shades of white and pale pink. This is an incredibly versatile plant, able to flourish equally well in small planters and left to grow into bushes outdoors.

Daphne is a shrub, and even one can fill an entire patio or enclosed porch with its strong, distinctive aroma. Plant shrubs at intervals within your existing garden arrangement, or create a hedge out of multiple Daphne plants. Its long life cycle means that there is enough time to enjoy its blossoms in full bloom, even if cold weather extends into the spring months.

So Far So Good

Have 4 of these planted as a foundation hedge. North facing bed with bright shade all day until late day when it gets late day sun until sunset. They are in a very sandy loam soil that drains incredibly quick but stays damp. Since April when they were planted until now (Sep 2nd) they have literally gained 150% in size. We had quite a bit of rain this year so I hardly ever watered them. Maybe once a week if there was no rain. I am currently having problems with one of them. It suddenly wilted starting at the ends of the branches and has slowly crept down and wilted the lower leaves. I suspect it is fighting off some kind of disease but the others are doing very well. Hopefully it can pull through. This bush blooms at will through the summer. It is a vigorous grower and tough. A few little pieces broke off during planting and they stayed green for over a week lying on the ground. I love it even though it can seem a little iffy from specimen to specimen.
One of my favorite plants

I have had this for 4 summers now. It is evergreen, and blooms over and over during the summer. I have been amazed by its vigor and how much it blooms
My Favorite Shrub

Although daphne does not like to be transplanted, this really took off the first year, doubling in size. The following year attained good growth as well. Beautiful, evergreen shrub with wonderfully fragrant flowers all season. Love this plant. We had a particularly nasty weather this winter so I hope it survives. So far, looks okay.
