Most of us are familiar with how showy Coral Bells can be, but the blazing colors of 'Fire Chief' are nothing short of incredible! Its huge fan-like leaves are a vivid crimson that lasting all year and doesn't fade at all until winter when they adopt a muted brown shade. These leaves should be plucked to encourage healthy regrowth in the spring.

If you're ever able to pull your eyes away from its intense scarlet foliage, you'll surely notice the other reason we love 'Fire Chief': those tiny white and powder pink flowers that rise up from the mound like, well, like bells! Just like its lovely leaves, these flowers stick around all year as well, which is great news if you like butterflies and bees which find these delicate blooms irresistible.

This Heuchera makes an excellent groundcover, and also looks great in mixed containers. There are several shades of red to admire and even the flower stalks are red as a fire hydrant. 'Fire Chief' resists powdery mildew and enjoys full sun in the North and partial sun in the South. While it was bred to tolerate heat and humidity, it can still suffer scorched leaves, so the sunnier it is the more water you should give it to prevent damage. Zones 4 to 9.
