Produces delicious fruit long into the season that is resistant to bruising
The 'Jewel' strawberry lives up to its flattering name. Botanists and Cornell University wanted to breed a quality berry that would be large and attractive.
They love moist soil that is well-drained and they are midsummer berries. They usually keep blooming from June to early fall. Gardeners chose this cultivar because the fruit makes delicious preserves and pies. They are disease resistant and do not get abrasions and bruises as easily as other strawberries.
'Jewel' strawberries are also the perfect strawberry for a fruit platter, since they are so sweet. Zones 4-8 are the ideal place for them to grow.
