Fritillaria

Nodding Bells on Proud Stalks

The bell-shaped, nodding blooms of Fritillary are distinguished by their lovely checkerboard patterns, which are so regular they almost look man made! This diverse Genus also includes several solid-colored cultivars, like the Crown Fritillaries with their colorful ring of blooms and whimsical tuft of foliage. These bulbs will grow roots in fall, then create leaves and blooms in spring. Fritillaria create a natural pest repellent that can have an unpleasant odor, so they are great for lining the back of the border and the edge of woodlands, adding their beauty and protecting your garden from pests.
