Description / Rosa Gabriel Oak

One of the most interesting of David Austin's® English shrub roses, Gabriel Oak has a beautiful overall look and is a good all-around rose. The leaves, borne along mulberry purple stems, are rich green with dark edges. The growth tips are a flame red that highlights the sumptuous deep, dark pink to pinky-red hues of the blooms. A relatively late bloomer, it begins flowering in early summer and continues flushing through mid-autumn, setting clusters of 2- to 3½-inch rosetted blossoms boasting 100+ petals and an intoxicating fruity fragrance with blackberry notes. With their stunning color and fabulous fragrance, they make excellent cut flowers for bouquets and mixed floral arrangements.

Cold hardy to Zone 4, Gabriel Oak is a vigorous medium-sized to large shrub that grows to approximately 4 feet tall and wide, with a shapely broad and rounded habit. This shrub is a perfect accent in a patio pot or container. or for grouping or massing in a mixed border or an informal rose hedge.

Named after the beloved character in Thomas Hardy's novel, Far from the Madding Crowd.
