A particularly showy wintergreen, Berry Cascade™ stands apart from the crowd with its abundant vivid red berries growing the entire length of the stems, giving it a charming cascading appearance. The berries are edible and a valuable food source for wildlife.
This evergreen perennial is attractive all year round. New growth of spring emerges orange red and slowly turns deep green in summer as the bush blooms in delicate, waxy, bell-like white flowers, followed by the berries that accompany the foliage through winter. The foliage has the aroma of wintergreen and is pest and disease resistant.
The plant is cold hardy and easy to grow. It prefers partial shade and acidic, well-drained soil that is rich in organic matter. Its low, spreading habit, growing up to 10 inches tall and 3 feet wide, makes it an excellent groundcover.
