Zone Compatibility
The USDA hardiness zones offer a guide to varieties that will grow well in certain climates. Each zone corresponds to the minimum winter temperatures experienced in a given area. Make sure that your hardiness zone lies within the zone compatibility range of this variety before ordering.
Description
Black Magic™ reaches a mature size of 5 to 7 feet tall and up to 4 feet wide, displaying lush glossy, dark green foliage that's proved to be very mildew resistant. It makes a truly impressive garden specimen, although it can also be grown in large patio containers.
This hybrid tea rose performs best in average, well-drained soil in full sun, although it has been reported to be somewhat shade tolerant.
Spring pruning should include the removal of old canes and dead or diseased wood. Also, cut back canes that cross over each other. If you live in a warm climate, cut back the remaining canes by about one third. Colder areas will probably require a bit more pruning than that. Provide spring freeze protection, and if grown in a container, winter protection.
