Description / Cephalotaxus 'Prostrata'

Great for southern humidity, this low- and slow-growing prostrate Japanese plum yew reaches 2 to 3 feet tall and 3 feet wide. The long-lasting, 0.7- to 1.7-inch evergreen needles resemble a conifer. They emerge pale green in spring and age to dark green.

The plant prefers partial shade and dappled sunlight but will grow successfully in full sun once established. It is heat and humidity tolerant and drought and deer resistant. It requires no maintenance and adapts to a wide range of soils, including clay, loam, silt, sand, shallow rocky, and rich organic matter. A fine specimen plant, it can also be mass planted as groundcover.
