Crataegus crus-galli, commonly called cockspur thorn, is sometimes seen as a dense, low-branched, broad-rounded tree. Lower branches often sweep near to the ground. It is also often seen as a tall, flat-topped shrub.Oval shaped, dark green leaves cover the branches and the foliage turns orange to scarlet to purple red in fall.
