Plant Patent Applied For. Cultivar name: 'Blagon.'

Goldspire Ginkgo is a French non-fruiting male hybrid with denser foliage than other cultivars. Its narrower pyramidal shape makes it a great choice for smaller yards. Its rich green fan-shaped spring foliage turns to a magnificent buttery yellow-gold in autumn, making it a standout selection as a specimen tree in the yard or to line streets. Hardy from USDA zones 4 thru 9, Goldspire ginkgo grows to a mature height of 14 to 16 feet with a width of 5 to 6 feet. It is heat tolerant and withstands environmental stresses well, such as air pollution. Ginkgo trees will tolerate partial shade, but prefer full sun. They are tolerant of acid or alkline well-drained soil, including loam, clay or sand. Plant your Goldspire ginkgo in the spring and water every 3-5 days until it is established. Add 2-3 inches of quality mulch to help retain moisture. While it is small, protect it from harsh, summer sun. Shear your Goldspire ginkgo back in the spring for the first 3 to 4 years to help it develop tight, dense growth habit.
