A rousing red rose mallow for the summer to fall garden

Flowers cover the plant from top to bottom.

If falling in love with 'Mars Madness' is crazy, we don't want to be sane. This statuesque beauty presents massive, deep cerise blooms from midsummer into early fall, seamlessly extending the season of beauty in your garden with its unrivaled visual impact.

Unlike similar plants, the showy 6- to 8-inch blossoms of this rose mallow cover the plant from top to bottom for a solid display that keeps you staring. Even its midnight green leaves, which emerge coppery purple in spring, add a note of dramatic color contrast to the bright billowing flowers.

'Mars Madness' is deer resistant, fast-growing, and a magnet for hummingbirds, bees, and other pollinators. It thrives in full sun, but can tolerate dappled shade and needs plenty of consistent water for it to enjoy a long healthy life in the garden. Introduce this selection of the native American hibiscus into your landscape and let it transport you to a floral fantasyland.

love my hibiscus

I forgot to bring my red hibiscus with me after I moved so found it on Wayside. Last year was the first year and it was beautiful full of blooms. Took a while to get started only because we had an unusual cool rainy spring and my landscaper mowed over it. But boy it took off once we had sunny warmer weather. I recommend this for sure

I planted this in spring when it arrived; and now, at the beginning of September, there is a HUGE red bloom on it! There are 6-8 other buds behind this one, so I can see I'll have a few weeks of blooms on this one. And for a first-year planting, that is pretty amazing. It grew to about 3' tall this year, and about 20" wide. I can't wait to see what it does next year. You won't be disappointed with this one!
