Highly vigorous and cold hardy, this clump-forming, herbaceous perennial forms a compact mound of glaucous soft blue foliage. The large, pointed leaves are softly cupped, nicely veined, and thickly textured with rippling wavy margins, which become more pronounced as the plant matures. Tubular, pale lavender flowers bloom on tall flower scapes in midsummer. They attract butterflies, birds, and hummingbirds to the garden and make excellent cuts for floral arrangements.
Hosta, also called plantain lily for their plantain-like leaves and lily-like flowers, are exceedingly popular perennials for shade gardens or partial to dappled shade areas of mixed beds, borders, or foundation plantings. A good background plant, they are most impressive when planted in groups. They tolerate pollution, so they are good for city environments. And this variety is slug resistant and heat tolerant.
