Description / Illicium 'Florida Sunshine'
The leafy shows of this evergreen shrub range in colors from deep gold, sunshine yellow and antiqued ivory as the temperature and seasons progress. This compact bush is sure to bring a range of beautiful colors through the seasons for years to come in your gardens, foundation areas, landscapes or even a container. Perfect for wooded barriers as deer enjoy grazing on the small, anise-scented fruits it bears in the fall. The fragrance lasts for weeks and is a welcome surprise for a border bush selection. 'Florida Sunshine' reaches three to five feet high and two to five feet wide, and looks splendid when planted in rows. It's relatively trouble free with hardy resistance to heat, drought and humidity. For zones 6 through 9 and ships in a two-quart container.

Deer Do Not Eat Them 1 people found this helpfulI purchased 3 of these and the next year I purchased 5 more. These are as good as boxwoods. I watched a deer walk right up to them and turn around. They won't eat them. The color of the foliage is fantastic. They really stand out. I can't wait for mine to get bigger. I just might get more of them. I am in zone 6b and they get a little beat up from the snow, But they spring back. If they were bigger they would do a lot better. We have had so many brutal snowstorms but they do fine.

A Bright Ray of Sunshine in the Winter Garden 1 people found this helpfulNorth Carolina Evergreen Plants. This plant is stunning with upper leaves bright limey green and darker mid green leaves underneath. The red stems add a punch and drama to a foundation plant that could be used as a specimen. The plants were strong and were planted in December (we had a warm spell) but have survived and thrived with three snow/ice events since the beginning of January. I love these shrubs and I may have to buy a few more.
