Description
We believe that Iris 'Jewelled Crown' is far and away the most beautifully patterned Siberian iris ever developed. These blooms measure up to 5 inches wide, with standards of rich plum-purple, blue styles, and flaring falls that feature bold white and yellow signals with purple veins against a violet background.
Arising in early summer in most climates, these flowers are set on very sturdy stems among arching, slender foliage. Disease-resistant and attractive, Iris 'Jewelled Crown' looks good even out of bloom, but there is nothing to compare to the show these huge blooms are prepared to launch each year.
Unappetizing to nibbling deer and rabbits, Iris 'Jewelled Crown' stands 28 to 34 inches high and gradually spreads over time, needing division (very easy to do) every few years to maintain its superior flower production. These blooms are more than just pretty faces: they provide nectar for hummingbirds.
Iris 'Jewelled Crown' makes a fine waterside planting as well as a border standout in any moist, well-drained garden soil. A dramatic addition to the iris garden.
