A hardworking perennial ground cover that practically glows in the shade, Orchid Frost Gold forms a spreading, weed-smothering mat that successfully blankets the shady areas where lawn grasses fail, and that would otherwise stay bare. The silver foliage with golden-green base tones and dark edging is evergreen in mild climates and herbaceous in colder climates.
Clusters of orchid pink flowers cover the plant in mid spring and occasionally show up throughout summer. But even without the blooms, it has elegant two-toned foliage and a tidy habit that make it a welcome addition in the garden or in a combination planter.
This easy-care spotted nettle is vigorous and resistant to foliage leaf spots. To stimulate healthy new growth, prune in late spring after flowering.
