It's no secret. Farmers and gardeners have known about garlic's insect repellent properties and have used it for generations to keep insects at bay. Mosquito Barrier is a very strong liquid garlic juice that is 99.3% pure garlic (Allium sativum) extract, which has natural insecticidal properties. It is made from a unique, very potent strain of "super garlic"—much stronger than grocery-store garlic. There are no poisons or harmful chemicals in Mosquito Barrier, so it is perfectly safe for children and pets and is safe to use around streams, lakes, and fish ponds. And unlike chemical formulations, this natural insect repellent doesn't kill bees, butterflies, or ladybugs.

The natural sulfur compounds in garlic not only repel mosquitoes but also a bunch of other pesky pests, like ticks, gnats, fleas, and fire ants. It works by coating the leaf surface of grasses, ornamentals, and lower trunks of trees with the organic sulfur-containing compounds (primarily allicin) found in garlic that produce its pungent odor and taste, which are natural deterrents for insects. After your first application, resident mosquitos will be killed by the garlic oils found in garlic juice, which clog the snorkel they use to breathe and interfere with their respiratory system, effectively suffocating them. Mosquito larvae, born in standing water, are also suffocated by the oily coating of spray on the water's surface, which prevents oxygen from reaching the larvae, and is especially effective when Mosquito Barrier is mixed with canola oil. Although undetectable by humans, the odor will detour neighboring mosquitos from entering your property.

To use, dilute Mosquito Barrier at a 100:1 ratio. Each quart covers approximately 1.25 acres (54,450 square feet). Apply 3 or 4 times, or as needed, during the summer mosquito season.

First, cut all tall grass and, using a cannister sprayer or hose end sprayer, spray liberally on grass, plants, flowers, shrubs, and tree trunks. When spraying for ticks, also apply to wooden fence posts to a height of 6 feet. Apply on a dry lawn after a 48-hour dry spell and do not run sprinklers for 48 hours after application. Do not spray if it has just rained, the foliage is wet, or rain is expected within 24 to 48 hours of application. As a precaution, apply at sundown when no bees or butterflies are out.
