Description / Passiflora 'Nancy Garrison' Passion Fruit

Passiflora 'Nancy Garrison' Passion Fruit is an evergreen fruiting vine, also known as passion vine. In summer, this passion vine puts on a spectacular show blooming and reblooming in exotic, extremely showy white flowers with a green center and long white filaments having a dark purple base. The nectar-rich flowers are lightly fragrant and highly attractive to pollinators, especially bees and butterflies. Lovely, round, purple-skinned fruits follow the flowers, ripening in late summer and into fall. The interior pulp of small seeds surrounded by a juicy sac (aril) is aromatic and bright orange. Ripened fruit will drop to the ground and can be eaten fresh or used to flavor drinks, jellies, and desserts.

A Passiflora edulis, commonly called purple passion fruit, 'Nancy Garrison' grows vigorously, reaching 10 to 20 feet tall at full maturity. Under ideal conditions, the vine will flower and fruit continually. In colder climates, it will die back in winter and regrow in spring. It makes an excellent specimen and can be trained on a trellis, arbor, or fence.

Although 'Nancy Garrison' prefers a warmer climate, it is cold hardy for a passion vine and adaptable to temperatures as low as 22°F. Purple passion fruit grows best in sunny locations with fertile, moist, well-draining soil. The vine is self-fertile and will bear fruit without any pollen from other varieties.

This passion fruit vine will ship at the appropriate planting time based on your growing zone. This passion fruit vine does not ship in December or January. Plant height is 18-24" when shipped.
