Description
This is not your typical clematis! This broad leaved hybrid Clematis is a cross between two distinct species, giving it a unique look and performance in the garden. The clump is covered with a profusion of small blue violet, star shaped blooms. The centers of the flowers have creamy white anthers that contrast beautifully with the purple petals. Although this is a non-vining Clematis, the plant will benefit from support, either from staking or from neighboring plants. If allowed to ramble without staking, it will spread across the garden. Let this clump forming clematis fill your beds and borders with its delicate purple blooms.
A member of Clematis group 3, this variety blooms first on new growth beginning in midsummer, and then again on new shoots in early fall. It is best to prune in late winter or early spring.
