Description / Pope John Paul II Hybrid Tea Rose
Bred by renowned hybridizer Keith Zary, Pope John Paul II was proudly introduced by Jackson & Perkins in 2008, and it quickly became a favorite among rose lovers and continues to be to this day. Pope John Paul II has been awarded top honors for fragrance, vigorous growth, perfect bloom form, and good disease resistance. It's no wonder it is a showpiece of the Vatican private garden.
As well-known in the rose world as the man for whom it's named, the Pope John Paul II hybrid tea is simply one of the most beautiful and exceptional roses you will ever grow. Its 5-inch blooms are pure, clean white and emit a wonderful fresh citrus fragrance. It truly is one of the most fragrant roses of all time. The blossoms unfurl from elegantly pointed, ovoid buds to reveal up to 50 petals, each standing atop a sturdy 16- to 20-inch stem. Arising in flushes from late spring to late fall, they stand out boldly against the glossy, dark green, disease-resistant foliage.
The plant reaches a mature size of 4 to 5 feet high and 3 to 4 feet wide, with a full, bushy habit, making it perfect for a number of applications: beds, borders, large patio containers, and of course, the cut garden, because you will definitely want to enjoy these stunning, deliciously fragrant blooms in your home.
Remove spent flowers to encourage rebloom. Larger flower size tends to occur in the cool spring.
NOTE: Tree and patio roses are hardy to Zone 6 regardless of the rose variety grafted to their tops.

Blooms like crazy 0 people found this helpfulFirst off, this rose smells amazing. One of the best in my garden. Second, it has more blooms than I've ever seen for a young bush. I'll get a dozen new buds at a time. It blooms like a mature plant. Lastly, it has a great color. I live in San Diego and the sun can cook white flowers and brown their edges. This one is a champ and looks great.

Beautiful & Fragrant 0 people found this helpfulThe bare root grew pretty quickly and there were already a few rounds of blooms this year. THe size of the flower gets bigger each round and they're beautiful. It was worth buying this choice and waiting for the blooms. I sure am a fan of this Rose choice.

Hope for the Pope 0 people found this helpfulI purchased this rose from J&P as a potted plant three seasons ago,it was very small and slow to get started. This bush is still not where i would expect it to be, other bushes i purchased that same year are 5-6ft with wide spread and tons of blooms, not this one, it is still small with no spread. The blooms however are wonderfully and the scent will have you sniffing all day long. Last for some time on the bush and in the vase, but its strong scent does dimenish in the vase . this season iam holding out hope for the pope to mature and catch up with its mates. I think i just got a dud bush, it happens. Perhaps i will purchase another and see what it does, until then, im keeping hope alive.
