Canna 'Cleopatra' is an enticing canna lily that always has a surprise in store because no two plants are exactly alike. Growing 28 to 32 inches tall, this architectural wonder sets immense, paddle-shaped leaves that can be green, dark bronze chocolate, or both. And its crown of large, showy, flowers can be yellow or red or a combination of the 2 colors, often kissed with cute little speckles.
Canna 'Cleopatra', a rhizomatous perennial, is a heat-loving plant suited for Zones 7-10, particularly thriving in southern gardens. Its upright, fast-growing habit makes it a versatile choice for beds, borders, and patio containers. When planted in clusters or masses, the visual impact is nothing short of stunning.
Canna 'Cleopatra' is both easy to grow and low maintenance. It thrives in sunny to partially shaded locations with rich, well-draining soil that is kept consistently moist. Good drainage is essential to prevent bulb rot. Deadhead faded flowers by cutting back the entire flowering stem to encourage new blooms, and let the foliage naturally die back before trimming. Its deer resistance ensures its beauty remains intact.
