Purple Passion Sweet Potato is a root vegetable. The sweet potatoes have purple skin, purple flesh, and an elongated shape, similar to a cucumber, with a fairly consistent width for the full length of the potato. They make a colorful dish, especially when roasted with Murasaki and orange sweet potatoes. Sweet potatoes are considered a superfood for their nutrient rich content. They are an excellent source of vitamin A and a good source of vitamin C, dietary fiber, and potassium. Sweet potatoes also contain iron, calcium, protein, and beneficial amino acids. Purple Passion is rich in anthocyanin too.

A tender perennial, typically grown as an annual, Purple Passion Sweet Potato is a member of the morning glory family (Convolvulacea). A vining slip, Purple Passion grows quickly in warm soils and is often grown for its ornamental value. The slips are self-pollinating.

Purple Passion Sweet Potato is extremely hardy and easy to grow, growing best in sunny locations with well-draining soil. For best texture and flavor, soils should be kept evenly moist. Once established, this sweet potato variety has a considerable amount of disease resistance and is somewhat drought tolerant.

A warm-season vegetable, sensitive to cold temperatures and frost, sweet potatoes can be direct sown into warm spring soil after the last frost date. Planting in cool soils will delay maturity. Mulching helps to moderate soil temperature as well as to maintain soil moisture and control weeds.
