Destined to become as legendary in the Rose world as its namesake is in the realms of fashion design, Lagerfeld is a unique grandiflora that no collection should be without. Its gorgeous 4- to 5-inch blooms are a shade of pale lavender that's still rare, despite the color breakthroughs Roses have seen in recent years, and its combination of spicy sweet fragrance alone is enough to send anyone reeling. Borne in large clusters of up to 10 blooms, they'll give you an instant, long-lasting bouquet with just one snip.
Lagerfeld is a robust shrub cloaked in attractive medium green foliage that grows 4 to 5 feet tall and 3 to 4 feet wide and offers much more vigorous growth than most lavender Roses. It makes a fitting subject for a Rose border, cottage garden, or large container display.
Plant this grandiflora rose in well-drained soil in full sun. Spring pruning is recommended. Old and dead wood should be removed and canes that cross need to be cut back. Gardeners in warmer climates should cut back the remaining canes by about one-third, while those in colder areas will probably want to prune a little more than that.
