Bred by renowned plantsman Raymond Evison, this variety offers an elegant cascade of star-shaped white blooms, each one held flat with striking red stamens that stand out like fine detailing. Its refined flowers begin appearing in late spring and repeat again in late summer, giving you two full rounds of seasonal color. Topping out around 5 feet tall and 3 feet wide, Guernsey Flute™ is ideal for small gardens, containers, and narrow spaces where vertical interest is welcome.
Commonly known as clematis, this selection is well suited for trellises, mailboxes, fences, and obelisks, and it makes a graceful companion to roses, hydrangeas, viburnum, or even patio container or balcony garden, this is a dependable, beautiful choice.
Clematis Guernsey Flute™ grows well in full sun to part shade and prefers fertile, well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. Hardy in Zones 4-9, it's mildew- and rabbit-resistant and blooms on both old and new wood. As a Group 2 clematis, it benefits from light pruning in early spring to remove weak or dead stems and can be trimmed again after the first bloom cycle to encourage reblooming.
