Description / Weigela Prism™ Arabian Nights
A reblooming dwarf variety, Weigela Prism™ Arabian Nights is a deciduous flowering shrub that grows to approximately 24 inches tall and 18 inches wide. Gorgeous for 3 seasons, the small shrub's full bloom occurs during late spring and lasts for 3 to 4 weeks, with a smattering of blooms continuing throughout summer. The bold clusters of bell-shaped cherry-red blooms create a dazzling display set against the backdrop of dainty dark mahogany foliage, which appears almost black when exposed to full sun. Pollen and nectar rich, the flowers entice bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds.
Arabian Nights has a dense, compact-rounded habit that's perfect for small garden spaces or a pretty patio pot. It is an excellent specimen plant but looks its best when grouped or massed in beds, borders, and landscapes. Arabian Nights is a must-have for a pollinator garden.
Easy to grow and low maintenance, weigela grows best in sunny to partly shady locations, but best flowering occurs in full sun. Weigela enjoys average to moderately fertile, medium moist soil that drains well and has an acidic pH, preferably between 5.5 and 6.2. Prune immediately after flowering to maintain shape and size.
