The American Iris Society Honorable Mention 2005; The American Iris Society Award of Merit 2009

Iris Ozark Rebounder is a tall bearded reblooming iris that rises to about 3 feet tall and blooms in mid-late spring and again in late summer to early fall. A rare color for iris, the award-winning flowers are some of the darkest available. Large and classically shaped, they have deep-purple beards and velvety ruffled petals of dark purple to blue violet with black-purple striations and veining. They sit atop sturdy stems and contrast beautifully with the long blue-green leaves. Perfect for cut flowers, they make sensational bouquets or exquisite additions to mixed floral arrangements. Left in the garden, they attract pollinators, including butterflies.

Ozark Rebounder is an Iris germanica cultivar. A rhizomatous perennial, it has an upright habit and multiplies over time, forming large clumps. Bearded iris shows to best effect when massed or grouped in mixed bed, borders, and foundation plantings. If plants become overcrowded, they can be divided and replanted in another area of your garden.

Easy to grow and low maintenance, bearded irises grow best in sunny to partially shady locations with 6 to 8 hours of direct sunlight. They grow well in almost any good garden soil as long as it's well-draining, but they prefer soils with a pH between 6.1 and 7.2. Keep them moist, but not soggy. Consistently wet feet may cause root rot. Bearded irises are drought and heat tolerant once established. They are also deer and rabbit resistant.

Tall bearded reblooming irises are bred to have a second bloom, but that is dependent on the location and growing conditions being favorable. Apply Espoma® Flower-tone® about 6 weeks before bloom time in both early spring and midsummer to promote a healthy bloom cycle.
