  • Description / Loropetalum Jazz Hands® Pink Chinese Fringe Flower

A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrub, Loropetalum Jazz Hands® Pink Chinese Fringe Flower is a delightfully compact shrub that maintains a mature size of 3 to 5 feet tall and wide, making it a perfect choice for small space gardens or containers. This evergreen is gorgeous year-round with its weeping branches dense with deep purple leaves that have a whisper of cranberry undertones. But it really puts on a dazzling spring show when its masses of fringy hot pink flowers begin to bloom. Jazz Hands Pink is a powerful presence in any style garden, offering sultry color and beautiful texture in every season.

A Loropetalum chinense, commonly called Chinese fringe-flower, Jazz Hands Pink has a rounded, mounded habit and a moderate to rapid growth rate. It is an excellent foundation, landscape, or border plant, especially when heavily massed or grouped. But it makes a stunning specimen in the garden or thriller in a mixed container garden.

Jazz Hands Pink requires little to no care in the garden when grown in Zones 7b-9. The shrub grows best in sunny to partly sunny spots with moist, well-drained soil having an acidic pH. The plant stands up to heat and resists foraging deer. Keep young plants moist, never soggy, and water mature plants deeply and less often to encourage deep, healthy roots. Fertilize in spring, prune to shape (if desired) after flowering, and mulch around the plant's base in cool climates.
