Description / Dianthus 'Coral Reef'

Dianthus 'Coral Reef' is an exquisite selection from the Scent First® Collection, specifically bred to enhance your garden with its outstanding fragrance, vibrant color, and elegant form. These carnations coral in hue, feature frilly, feminine double blooms that are a rich, deep coral pink adorned with pristine white edging, offering a striking contrast that catches the eye. The blooms exude a strong, spicy fragrance, becoming even more pronounced when cut and arranged, making them a heavenly choice for bouquets and cut flower arrangements.

Ideal for those in search of a brilliantly beautiful ground cover, border, or container plant, Dianthus 'Coral Reef' excels in rock gardens and exposed hills, thriving in well-drained, windswept locations over boggy areas. These Dianthus 'Coral Reef' delights are perfectly adapted to hot, dry conditions and prefer soils with an alkaline pH, embodying the resilience of carnation tree coral in a reef aquarium setting, where water quality and flow are paramount.

Flourishing from early spring until fall, these easy-to-grow perennials display their coral and white blooms with pride. Regular removal of spent flowers and occasional fertilization will encourage continuous blooming. The plants boast compact mounds of succulent, glaucous blue-green foliage, creating a lush backdrop for the spicy scented blooms.

Dianthus 'Coral Reef' not only brings beauty and scent to your garden but also is a practical choice, being unpalatable to deer and rabbits, and requiring minimal maintenance. Simply plant this variety in a sunny, well-drained spot to enjoy its reliable blooming cycle, adding a splash of deep coral charm and the allure of spicy fragrance to your landscape.

Sweet smelling dianthus flowers are also known by their common names: carnations, pinks, and sweet William. A family with hundreds of low maintenance varieties, you can find a carnation color and bloom style for nearly any garden purpose.

Nice color and form, but blooms are smaller than expected from description and pictures. Still very nice, and the plants provided were in excellent condition.

I like them and they are pretty when I happen to get one or two blooms. They might be deer resistant but not rabbit resistant. Can't seem to grow them very long before the are chewed to the ground.
