Description / Narcissus Naturalizing Dream Mix Daffodil Bulbs

The Narcissus Naturalizing Dream Mix contains daffodils that are especially good at perennializing in most regions of the US. Left undisturbed, each bulb will multiply over the years. Natural naturalizers, their sprawling clumps of long, flat, strap-like leaves and showy blooms spread and reappear year after year, possibly for decades, with adequate space, sunlight, water, and fertilizer. Plant Naturalizing Dream Mix bulbs in fall before the first frost, and in early to mid-spring they bloom in a mix of yellow and white flowers atop sturdy stems. They brighten the early season garden and make beautiful bunch bouquets.

These Narcissus varieties, commonly called daffodils, have an upright, clumping habit and grow 18 inches tall. Daffodils are versatile plants that look their best when grouped or massed mixed beds, borders, and patio pots. They are a great option for planting in large sweeping drifts in open areas, in masses under deciduous trees, and in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. They mix well with ground covers and other spring-blooming bulbs in the garden but can also be forced for indoor blooms in winter.

Cold hardy (to Zone 3), this blend of naturalizing daffodils is virtually foolproof to grow and easy to maintain. Daffodils prefer areas with cool winters and warm, dry summers, but they grow well in most USDA Hardiness Zones if there is a discernable winter. They grow best in sunny to partly shady locations with rich, fertile, well-draining soil having a neutral to acidic pH. Water daffodils during the growth period, but keep in mind, bulbs do not like wet feet. When planting these bulbs, allow adequate space between bulbs and plant them at the proper depth—8 inches apart and 6 inches deep. For robust flowering during the current season as well as the following spring season, feed bulbs with a well-balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food, as soon as growth begins in spring. After flowers bloom, allow foliage to die back naturally and cut back once fully faded. Daffodils are relatively pest-free and deer resistant.
