Bromeliad

A Bromeliad (Bromeliaceae) brings the beauty of the tropics indoors with a rosette of long, broad, leathery foliage that matures to produce a lone striking red, pink, orange, or yellow flower that lasts for months. As the bloom slowly dies off, the plant forms a "pup" and a new baby bromeliad is born.

Bromeliads are simple to grow. Give them plenty of light, and when the "cup" that is formed by leaves at the base of the plant is empty, simply refill with water.
