Description / Caladium 'Sweetheart' Bulbs
Absolutely the finest caladium we know. 'Sweetheart' can take the summer sun in stride, growing with vigor to an unbelievably lush, compact 15 inches. Their form is virtually perfectrounded and symmetrical, with cascading layers of richly colored leaves. The base of each leaf is bubblegum pink, with darker pink veining, a smattering of white flecks, and then a wide, fresh green margin. Striking!
A great size for containers, Caladium 'Sweetheart' flourishes in part to full shade in any garden setting, and makes a super holiday houseplant.
Fancy-leafed Caladiums are a gardener's best friend; they have no natural enemies and grow contentedly in any rich soil. Just plant the bulb in warm (75 to 85 degrees Fahrenheit) conditions and watch it flourish with huge, wide-open leaves smattered with Christmas colors. Terrific as a bedding plant in any shady spot, they also make splendid winter houseplants.
