Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Canna 'Wyoming' is a large, magnificent tropical plant with a mature size of approximately 36 to 48 inches tall. A prolific bloomer, this flamboyant, award-winning canna lily sets big and ruffled burnt orange blooms against a backdrop of huge, paddle-shaped, reddish bronze leaves for a truly spectacular, summer-long display.

Canna 'Wyoming' is a heat-loving, rhizomatous, tender perennial (Zones 8-11) that grows well in southern gardens. It has an upright habit and fast growth rate. Although a single canna lily can make quite an impression in a garden bed or large patio planter, naturally grouped or mass plantings are absolutely awe-inspiring.

Easy to grow and low maintenance, Canna 'Wyoming' grows best in sunny to partially shady spots with organically rich soil. Keep the soil moist, but it's important that the soil is freely draining to prevent bulbs from rotting. Deadhead faded flowers by removing the entire flowering stem to encourage more blooms. Allow foliage to die back naturally before removing. Canna lilies are deer resistant.

Plant Canna 'Wyoming' bulbs 2 to 4 inches deep in warm spring soil, spacing them 12 to 18 inches apart, setting the rhizome in the hole shoots (2/3 eyes) up. Where hardy, bulbs can be covered with mulch over winter. In regions where cannas are not hardy, plant the bulbs in early summer to 2 inches deep; and in fall, dig up bulbs and store in a frost-free place.

Stunning canna has tropical blooms and showy foliage. While they're not true lilies, they grow from rhizomes and so are easy to plant, divide, and take up if you're in a cooler hardiness zone. Find the details for growing cannas in our Canna Care Guide.
