Moongate Mocha™ Clematis offers an unusual color combination that brings fresh interest to spring gardens. Large mocha toned flowers appear against bronzy purple new foliage, creating a distinctive display that stands apart from traditional clematis varieties. The colorful emerging foliage adds another layer of ornamental appeal, while the abundant blooms transform vertical spaces with soft, earthy tones.
As a member of the montana clematis group, Moongate Mocha™ is known for vigorous growth and excellent coverage. Established plants quickly cloak trellises, fences, pergolas, and arbors in foliage and flowers, creating a beautiful garden focal point. Because blooms form on old wood, mature plants reward gardeners with an impressive spring display year after year.
Hardy in Zones 5 to 9, Moongate Mocha™ grows best in full sun to part shade and well drained soil. Plants can reach 10 to 15 feet tall with a spread of approximately 10 feet. Prune only after flowering and avoid cutting plants back before bloom time, as flower buds develop on existing stems.
