Description / Gladiolus Exuberant Koi Blend Bulbs
Exuberant Koi Blend contains 2 large-flowering gladiolus varieties: Extravert gladiolus and Koi gladiolus. A perfect pairing, these 24- to 48-inch flowering spikes rise above a lush fan of slender, sword-shaped leaves and grace the summer garden with showy, orchid-like flowers having elegantly ruffled petals. Excellent cut flowers, they create sensational summer bouquets and floral displays. Left in the garden, they attract butterflies and hummingbirds.
Exuberant Koi Blend contains Gladiolus spp. varieties, commonly called gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, that are perennials in Zones 7-10. Create an impressive floral display by planting Exuberant Koi Blend gladiolus in groups within beds, borders, or containers. These glads are great option for rock gardens and a must-have for cutting gardens. Stake taller varieties in windy locations for extra support.
Exuberant Koi Blend gladiolus are low-maintenance flowers that thrive in sunny or partially shaded areas with rich, well-draining soil that retains moisture. Improve sandy or clay-heavy soils with organic materials like bark or peat moss to enhance water retention and drainage. Apply fertilizer sparingly after planting and once more in summer. Water thoroughly during planting and regularly as the plants grow and bloom. Add mulch to help the soil stay cool and retain moisture.
Plant Exuberant Koi Blend gladiolus bulbs in a wind-sheltered area after the final frost. Space them 4 to 6 inches apart and plant them 4 to 6 inches deep in warm soil. Plant all at once or every two weeks for a prolonged flowering season. Once blooming ends, allow the foliage to grow until it browns or frost approaches. Lift the corms, dry and clean them, and store in a cool, dry place (40-50°F) for the winter months.
