Description / Hosta Shadowland® 'Empress Wu' Plantain Lily
You'll need lots of room for this giant Proven Winners® hosta plant. The 'Empress Wu' measures a stunning 4 feet tall, and can grow up to 6 feet in width. Each of its many leaves can grow up over 1.5 feet in width. Not your typical shrub, this plant also has gorgeous pastel flowers topping 5-foot stems.
A real conversation starter, the 'Empress Wu' is one of the largest varieties of hosta plants in existence. The leaves are not only broad reaching themselves, but they are packed densely, leaving no need for filler plants. The flowering stems reach just a foot above the tallest leaves on the plant, although the overgrown leaves are the real attention grabber. These are great replacements for privacy shrubs, or to create a garden wall, squaring-off sections of you landscape.
The 'Empress Wu' is easy to grow, and loves shaded areas. It doesn't need very wet soil to thrive, and will display well from spring to fall. Expect this durable Hosta to last you and your family many decades.
