Description / Hyacinthus Pink Pearl Hyacinth Bulbs
Plant Hyacinthus Pink Pearl hyacinth bulbs in fall before the first frost, and the next spring the compact plants bloom in large flower spikes of tightly packed star-shaped soft-pink florets with recurved petals, rising 8 to 12 inches tall above thick, strappy leaves. Wonderfully fragrant, the flowers' intense, sweet scent makes them very popular with gardeners and pollinators, drawing in hummingbirds and butterflies from far and near.
A Hyacinthus orientalis, commonly called hyacinth, Pink Pearl is a bedding size plant with an upright habit and requires no staking. Pink Pearl looks its best when clustered or massed in the garden or in pretty patio pots. Just be sure to place them where their powerful perfume can be fully enjoyed. Grown in the garden under ideal conditions, hyacinths will reappear for several years but may decline with the passage of time. With special handling, the bulbs can be forced indoors in soil or in water.
Cold hardy to Zone 4, Pink Pearl hyacinth is easy to grow and low maintenance. It grows best in full sun to partial shade, preferring soils that are organically rich, medium moist, and fast draining with a neutral to slightly acidic pH. Plant Pink Pearl hyacinth bulbs 4 to 8 inches apart and 4 to 6 inches deep, feed bulbs with Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food, keep well-watered during the growing season, and mulch for winter protection. Remove spent flowers immediately but allow foliage to die naturally and remove when fully faded. Pink Pearl hyacinth is deer resistant.
