Description / Acer 'Mikazuki'
Mikazuki is a mid-sized acer that is quickly gaining popularity for its uncommon foliage and vivid colors. Its deeply lobed leaves are incredibly slender and unique which is why it is named 'Mikazuki' which means "crescent moon" in Japanese. In spring its leaves begin as reddish pink in color with green veins that stand out to create notable contrast. By the time summer has reached its peak this acer has changed outfits to match the weather, sporting brightly verdant foliage with cream accents. Autumn sparks a new change as the tree blazes with fiery orange foliage that makes quite an impact in the garden during this quieter season. Mikazuki prefers full to partial sunlight and well drained soil. It can withstand temperatures as low as -20 degrees and so makes it to zone 5.
