Fresh homegrown mushrooms are easier than you might expect with the Mushroom Portabella Kit from Park Seed. Designed for reliability and ease of use, this kit makes it possible for gardeners of any experience level to grow rich, flavorful portabella mushrooms right on the kitchen counter. Known for their deep, savory taste and firm texture, portabella mushrooms are a favorite for grilling, roasting, and hearty meals.

Portabella mushrooms are the largest of the commonly cultivated mushrooms, reaching up to 6 inches across at maturity. Closely related to white and brown mushrooms, they develop over a longer growth cycle, which contributes to their meaty texture and fuller flavor. With proper care, gardeners can expect to harvest approximately 2 to 3 pounds of mushrooms from a single kit. The growing medium arrives fully prepared, eliminating much of the guesswork typically associated with mushroom growing.

This kit is intended for indoor growing and requires no garden space or special equipment. Ideal indoor temperatures range from 55 to 65 degrees Fahrenheit. Outdoor growing is only recommended when temperatures remain consistently cool within this range. Kits should be opened immediately upon arrival and brought indoors, especially during winter months. If indoor living spaces are consistently above 70 degrees Fahrenheit, placing the kit in a cooler room is recommended.

Full instructions are included, and kits require immediate attention upon arrival. It is important to open the package right away and carefully read the instructions for any urgent care needs. For northern customers receiving kits during winter, the package should be opened immediately and set up indoors rather than outdoors. Outdoor use is only recommended when ambient temperatures remain within the ideal range.
