Winner of multiple awards, this heirloom tazetta narcissus has been popular with gardeners since 1930. Plant Narcissus Geranium daffodil bulbs in autumn before the first frost, and early the next spring they begin to blossom. The daffodils rise to 14 to 16 inches tall and set small (but plentiful) bicolor blooms with creamy white petals surrounding a frilled bright orange cup. Borne in clusters of 4 to 6 on each long, strong stem, the wonderfully fragrant flowers attract pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds, to the garden and make exceptionally cheerful cut flowers for early season bouquets.
A Narcissus tazetta, commonly called daffodil, Geranium has an upright habit. Geranium daffodil bulbs multiply and naturalize easily, with the plants' long, strappy leaves and beautiful blooms reappearing year after year, possibly for decades, in ideal conditions with adequate space, sunlight, water, and fertilizer. Best planted in groups or masses, daffodils work equally well in mixed beds, borders, and containers. Consider planting large sweeping drifts in open woodland areas, in masses under deciduous trees, and in smaller groupings in front of shrubs. They mix well with ground covers and other spring-blooming bulbs in the garden, but Geranium daffodils are also a great option for forcing indoors for winter blooms.
Narcissus Geranium is a bulbous perennial that's super easy to grow and maintain. These daffodils prefer areas with cool, wet winters and warm, dry summers; but they typically grow and perennialize well in USDA Hardiness Zones 5-9. Daffodils grow best in sunny to partly shady locations with rich, fertile, well-draining soil having a neutral to acidic pH. When planting Geranium bulbs allow adequate space between bulbs and plant them at the proper depth: 8 inches apart and 6 inches deep. Water daffodils during the growth period, but keep in mind, bulbs do not like soggy soils. Feed bulbs with a well-balanced fertilizer, such as Espoma Organic® Bulb-tone® Bulb and Flower Food, as soon as growth begins in spring. After flowers bloom, allow foliage to die back naturally and cut back once fully faded. Geranium daffodils are relatively pest-free and deer resistant.
