  • Description / Leucanthemum Realflor® 'Real Goldcup' Shasta Daisy

Leucanthemum Realflor® 'Real Goldcup' is a perennial that grows to about 36 inches tall and 18 inches wide. A very floriferous midsummer bloomer with a repeat fall bloom, it sets large bright-yellow blooms with 3 whorls of fancy frilled rays surrounding a bold gold eye. Borne on very strong stems covered in small, elegant, mid-green leaves, the radiant blooms hold their color as they age and attract pollinators to the garden, including bees and butterflies. Long-lasting in a vase, these dazzling drops of sunshine make brilliant summer bouquets.

A Leucanthemum x superbum cultivar, commonly called Shasta daisy, 'Real Goldcup' has an upright, tight, clumping habit that is wind resistant and requires no staking. Popular for over a century, Shasta daisy is an old-fashioned favorite that fits beautifully into modern landscapes. Mass in garden beds and borders or use in containers and patio pots. It's a must-have in butterfly or cutting gardens.

A robust, easy to grow, low-maintenance plant, 'Real Goldcup' Shasta daisy grows best in a sunny spot with average, dry to medium, freely draining soil. 'Real Goldcup' has improved disease resistance and is drought tolerant once established. Fertilize in spring and trim back after summer bloom to encourage new growth and a repeat fall bloom.

Leucanthemum plants are famously named Shasta Daisy after California's Mount Shasta. Learn how to care for these perennial beauties as part of your Chemical Free Garden in our Organic Care for Shasta Daisies Guide.
