Description / Actinidia September Sun™ Arctic Beauty™ Female Kiwi

Royal Horticultural Society Award of Garden Merit

Actinidia September Sun™ Arctic Beauty™ Female Kiwi is a compact, woody, deciduous vine valued not only for fruit production but also for ornamental purposes, prized for its colorful, variegated foliage of heart-shaped leaves. A superior female variety, September Sun sets tiny, slightly fragrant, greenish-white flowers in early summer followed by large fruits with smooth skin and a sweet kiwi flavor. Fruits ripen in August, with yields of 10 to 15 lbs.

An Actinidia kolomikta (Sentyabraskaya cv.) variety, also known as arctic beauty kiwi or variegated kiwi vine, September Sun is hardy to minus 40°F and grows vigorously, reaching a mature height of 15 to 20 feet and bears fruit 1 to 2 years after planting. Grow September Sun on arbors, trellises, fences, screens, or walls.

Kiwi require cross-pollination of a male and female plant for fruit production. September Sun Make sure to pair September Sun with a Pasha™ male Arctic beauty for pollination. One male will pollinate up to 8 female kiwis.

Kiwi grows best in sunny to partly shady locations with average, medium moist, well-draining soil. September Sun Arctic Beauty likes some shade, but too much shade will diminish foliage color. The plant is not bothered by pests or diseases.
