Penstemon / Beardtongue
Graceful Spires of Color for Sunny Spots
Penstemon, also known as beardtongue, native western species, is invaluable in sunny gardens and prairie-themed plantings. The graceful, arching flower stems grow between 1 and 3 feet tall (based on variety), boasting colorful trumpet-shape blooms that attract butterflies with their nectar. Very tolerant of both heat and drought, this is a lovely low-maintenance source of color for the mid-to-late season. Plant it in large groups for a most impressive effect.
