Description
How can a plant that looks so fragile and feathery be so tough?
Other than the appearance of its extremely fine foliage, there is nothing delicate about this cold hardy, low maintenance perennial. Athyrium 'Branford Beauty' is one of the most dramatic, elegant, and exotic ferns available. Its rosy stems, upright and arching, carry graceful fronds, finely divided and softly hued in muted tones of silver, grey, and green, with burgundy tinges. Low growing and spreading, to approximately 24 inches high and wide, it forms a shapely mat, dense right to the ground.
Athyrium 'Branford Beauty' is the perfect plant for Asian and woodland gardens, in beds or containers; but really, it's a lovely addition to any garden, adding subtle color and indispensable texture to the foreground of shady beds and borders, the lining along pathways, the facing for leggier plants, or the gaps between shrubs and under trees. And Athyrium 'Branford Beauty' is also a great companion plant for hosta, heuchera, black mondo grass, astilbe, hellebores, and lungwort.
Uses: Groundcover, Border Edging, Mass Planting, General Garden, Shade Gardens, Woodland Gardens, Wet Areas, Erosion Control
