Description / Cécile Brunner Climbing Rose

Perhaps no other rose has been more cherished as a backdrop for joyous occasions as Cécile Brunner, a rambling hybrid tea bred in the Victorian era. With delicately formed, fragrant blooms and long, elegant stems, this rose embodies the romance of roses. Perfect for cutting gardens, containers, or mass plantings along beds, borders, and walkways, Cécile Brunner Climbing Rose is a lovely addition to any flower garden or display, indoors and out.

Clusters of 2-inch, fully double flowers unfurl from long, pointed buds, their soft pink exteriors revealing a deeper pink center. The sweet, long-lasting fragrance is distinctively rich but not overpowering. Remarkably long-blooming, this free-flowering climbing rose produces armloads of miniature roses throughout the season.

Introduced in 1881 by Pernet-Ducher, Cécile Brunner is also affectionately known as The Sweetheart Rose, Mignon, and Mademoiselle Cécile Brunner. No matter what the name, this resilient and floriferous climbing rose will bring lasting beauty and charm to your garden, offering an abundance of light pink blooms season after season.

Many years ago I purchased a Cecile Runner Bareroot Rose from Wayside. I planted it along the back fence and it has flourished. It has gotten very large and dazzles us with beautiful blooms for many months!
