Colchicum 'Waterlily' delights with big 4- to 5-inch fall flowers on leafless stems that appear weeks after the foliage has died back. What a delightful autumn surprise.
Colchicum 'Waterlily' is a standout variety, sporting foliage in spring and early summer followed by blooms in fall. The flowers are soft lavender-pink, arising in groups up to half a dozen on low-growing plants. Long-lasting and dependable, they are an excellent source of carefree color for the border and woodland garden.
Easy to grow from fall-planted bulbs, this Colchicum 'Waterlily' can also be forced indoors by setting it on a bed of pebbles in a pan of shallow water. Deer, rabbits, voles, and gophers will leave the bulb alone in the garden—it is poisonous, and pests stay away.

This was the first time trying this bulb. I force bloomed it in a tiny 2 inch pot just to be able to watch it grow. The blooms started out white then daily got a little pinker ,then turned to a vivid purple color. So much fun to watch. This will go into the ground soon, and next year I want to try more. Very satisfied with this plant.

I love this plant because they have the green in the spring and the wonder flower in the fall. I had this in Oregon and now I am getting some for my new home in NC.
