Most nerines are tender greenhouse bulbs, but Nerine bowdenii is the nearest to being hardy, and is well worth planting outdoors in a warm sunny border backed by the shelter of a wall. Nerine bowdenii 'Alba' bears crisp, pure-white, star-shaped blooms on sturdy stems. It makes a fantastic addition to the late summer border and makes an excellent cut flower.
For best results grow Nerine bowdenii 'Alba' in well-drained soil in full sun, ideally sheltered by a south-or west-facing wall. Divide congested clumps in spring.
Wherever you plant it, it will reward you with unique blooms for your landscape.
