Description / Northpole™ Patio Apple Tree Kit

Apple trees require cross-pollination at blossom time for fruit to develop. Cross-pollination is the transfer of pollen, typically by honeybees, from one variety to a different variety of the same type tree. But you don't need to worry about that because we've done the research for you and have included 2 very popular and mutually beneficial varieties in this Apple Tree Duo (Malus Northpole™ Patio Apple Tree Kit) that work best together for the easiest and most abundant apple growing possible.

Northpole™ and Scarlet Sentinel™ are columnar varieties that have virtually no branches and bear fruit along the main trunk. Perfect for small spaces, these dwarf trees can even be grown in large patio containers and pruned heavily to maintain their small size. They are cold hardy to Zone 4.

Northpole™ produces pure white flowers in spring followed by a heavy crop of large red fruit in early September. Similar to McIntosh, the apples are crisp, sweet, juicy, and aromatic, good for fresh eating, cider, baking, and canning.

Scarlet Sentinel™ produces clusters of bright white flowers in spring followed by a good crop of exceptionally large, greenish-yellow fruit with an attractive red blush in mid to late September. The sweet and very juicy apples are good for fresh eating, baking, canning, and cider making.

The trees fruit 1 to 2 years after planting and attract the all-important honeybees. Keep in mind that most pesticides are toxic to bees and should not be used during bloom time. Bees are most active when the temperature is above 65 degrees Fahrenheit and winds are below 10 miles an hour. For best pollination, place the trees within 100 feet of each other. A greater distance between them may result in poor pollination.

These trees were developed from Geneva 202 root stock and are non-GMO items, grown with sustainable and ecologically sound growing practices. They are 3 to 4 feet tall when shipped.

Uses: Small Gardening, Containers, Borders, Landscape Specimen
