Description / Gladiolus Emerald Snow Blend Bulbs

Emerald Snow Blend contains 2 large-flowering gladiolus varieties: Sapporo gladiolus and Green Star gladiolus. Two statuesque stunners, they soar to staggering heights between 40 to 60 inches tall on slender scapes above long, strappy leaves in an upright fan. Both are heavy summer bloomers with multiple flower buds on each spike that open from the bottom up, creating a long-lasting display in the garden or in a vase. And their complementary colors couldn't be more striking, with Green Star's bright green color popping against Sapporo's red-hearted pink and yellow blooms.

Emerald Snow Blend contains Gladiolus spp. varieties, commonly called gladiolus, glads, or sword lilies, that are perennials in Zones 7-10. To enjoy a spectacular gladiolus display, plant Emerald Snow Blend glads in clusters in garden beds, borders, or containers. They are a great option for cutting gardens and rock gardens. In windy areas, these taller plants may need staking for support.

Emerald Snow Blend gladiolus are easy to grow, thriving in sunny to lightly shaded spots with rich, porous soil that drains well but retains moisture. For sandy or clay-heavy soils, enrich with organic amendments like peat moss or ground bark to improve water retention and drainage. Fertilize sparingly after planting and again in midsummer. Keep the soil moist by watering deeply during planting and regularly throughout the growing season. Mulch around the plants to maintain moisture and cool soil temperatures.

Choose a protected site and plant Emerald Snow Blend gladiolus bulbs (corms) after the frost danger is gone. Space them 4 to 6 inches apart and plant 4 to 6 inches deep in spring. For continuous blooms, plant new bulbs every two weeks. After flowering, let the foliage remain until it browns or frost nears. Dig up the corms, clean and dry them, and store in a cool, dry area (40-50°F) for winter.
