Description / Hydrangea Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea
Like its namesake, the Hydrangea Gatsby Moon® is a classic. This remarkable Hydrangea produces thick clusters of frothy white blooms amidst formidable color-changing foliage.
In early summer, double florets start appearing on Hydrangea Gatsby Moon® and in no time large cones of blossoms with rich, frilly texture will dominate the plant. As these flowers mature, their snowy white hue will be tinged with an interesting lime green. You will have plenty of time to observe this process, as the Gatsby Moon® Oakleaf Hydrangea is a hearty bloomer that keeps flowering all summer long.
But on this towering shrub, which stands 6-10 feet tall, the beauty of the blossoms is matched by that of the massive foliage. In autumn Gatsby Moon's® large leaves take on a deep crimson color.
This Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Hydrangea flourishes in most well-drained soils, preferring more shade in the south and more sun in the north. Feed Gatsby Moon® with Tree and Shrub slow-release fertilizer. Then trim it in late summer after it has finished flowering, as it blooms on old growth. Zones 5 to 9.
