Description / Juniperus Gin Fizz® Juniper
A Proven Winners® ColorChoice® Flowering Shrubs variety, Juniperus Gin Fizz® Juniper is a dioecious evergreen conifer offering year-round interest. A female variety, this attractive juniper sets an abundant crop of sage green and blue berries against a handsome backdrop of dark green foliage. And just as the berries give gin its characteristic flavor, the heavy berry set is what gives Gin Fizz juniper its distinctive appearance. Although the berries are massively appealing to birds, providing them with a nutritious food source, the colorful sprigs of berries are a nice addition to floral and evergreen displays.
Gin Fizz juniper is a durable, needled evergreen with a versatile, conical habit. It makes a stunning specimen but may also be massed or grouped in beds or foundation plantings. And it makes an awesome hedge.
Cold hardy and easy to grow, juniper grows best in sunny locations with average, medium moist, well-draining soil. But it tolerates hot, dry, sunny locations, including urban environments, and a wide variety of soils, including poor soils, but is intolerant of wet conditions. Gin Fizz juniper is also salt tolerant and deer resistant. Prune to shape or control spread as needed.

Cedar Apple rust. 0 people found this helpfulThis Juniper is growing very well in full Sun. However since I planted it near two wonderful crabapple trees I am now worried about Cedar Apple rust. Is this Juniper a type of Red Cedar? If so I will have to dig it up and discard it. And why do you not warn people about this awful disease?
